How do external partners, in particular venture capitalists, corporate venture departments, business angels, or incubator / accelerator boards, evaluate the potential, development, and success of technology-based startups? How to they use particular performance measures and for that? Which information do they have initially? How do such measures influence their investment and other decisions? And which role do they play for external parties after an investment decision has been made?

 

Thesis

The objective of this research project is to elaborate the understanding of how external partners use performance measurement and management (PMM) to evaluate startup companies. In a systematic literature review you will analyze existing literature in high-quality academic journals. In the first step you will define the objective of the literature review and formulate research questions. In the second step you will conduct the literature search. In the final step you are going to organize your results in order to answer your initial research questions and obtain new and interesting insights into the literature.
