How does the literature in leading entrepreneurship journals understand the role of attracting resources for startup companies? The attraction of resources is commonly seen as one of the biggest challenges for startups on their way to achieve market success. However, literature is not clear about what the attraction of resources does exactly mean and which influence it has on startups. We are particularly interested in understanding how prior research has drawn on the two main resource theories: the resource-based view and the resource dependence theory. Which constructs have been used to capture the attraction of resources in startups? What are the consequences and antecedents of these constructs? How is the attraction of resources related to startup performance? And how similar or different is the understanding in the leading entrepreneurship journals?
Thesis
The objective of this research project is to elaborate the understanding of the attraction of resources in leading entrepreneurship literature through a systematic literature review. Hence, you will review the literature in few high-quality journals in entrepreneurship, such as Strategic Entrepreneurship Journal, Entrepreneurship Theory and Practice, Journal of Business Venturing. In the first step you will define the objective of the literature review and formulate research questions. In the second step you will conduct the literature search. In the final step you are going to organize your results in order to answer your initial research questions and obtain new and interesting insights into the literature.
