Content

The course will be a mix of lectures, discussions, and student presentations. Students will write a paper in small groups, and present this in the final week. Topics are selectively prediscibed. The seminar course is concentrated in several meetings that are spread throughout the semester.

Learning objectives:

  • Students are largely independently able to identify a distinct topic in Management Accounting,
  • Students are capable to research the topic, analyze the information, to conceptualize and deduct fundamental principles and relationships from relatively unstructured information,
  • Students can afterwards logically and systematically present the results in writing and as an oral presentation, following a scientific approach (structuring, terminology, sources.

Workload:

  • The total workload for this course is approximately 90 hours. For further information see German version.

Examination:

  • The performance review is carried out in the form of a “Prüfungsleistung anderer Art” (following § 4 (2) No. 3 of the examination regulation), which in this case is an essay the seminar participants prepare in group work.
  • The final grade is made up of the grade of the seminar paper, the presentation and the contributions in the seminar sessions.

Required prior Courses:

  • The course requires a basic knowledge of finance and accounting.
