Zulaiqa obtained her bachelor’s degree in Environment, Health, and Safety Management (Arbeits-, Gesundheits- und Umweltschutz) from the Open University of Malaysia in Kota Kinabalu, and her master’s degree in Sustainable Resource Management (Nachhaltiges Ressourcenmanagement) form the Technical University of Munich. After graduation, she joined the Chair of Management Accounting as a research assistant and doctoral student. Zulaiqa gained prior professional experience from construction, academia (IELTS), chemicals (BASF), and software companies (eyeo).
 

In response to natural resource scarcity and multiple ongoing environmental crises, environmental management accounting emerged as a management accounting approach that focuses on physical environmental information (energy and material flows) and environmental cost information, to support corporate environmental and economic decision-making. In our research, we focus on environmental management accounting methods to understand how it can support sustainable decision-making.
