  • Big Data is a much frequented term in the daily industry. Yet technologies are still used rarely and often just partly in practice. In order to be able to get a comprehensive overview of additional value created through Big Data, potential Management Accounting applications are discussed through the structure of a traditional decision making framework. This is enabling a discussion about the gap between traditional Management Accounting including Business Intelligence practices and the changes of Management Accounting practices through Big Data, focusing on the ratio of financial and non-financial information used, the difference between the Business Intelligence and Big Data approach as well as the changing role of Management Accounting depicted through the relationship to Management.
